NPFD Worked Through Hurricane Irene

With the damage of Hurricane Irene finally coming to an end, it is clear that it was one of the worst storms to hit the coast and one of the most damaging for New Paltz and the residents surrounding it.

All in all, New Paltz Firefighters responded to 258 calls for help serving our community and the neighboring communities as well. Some of the incidents that NP firefighters faced were pump outs, motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, water rescues, evacuations and numerous calls for trees and wires down.

The New Paltz Fire Department would like to thank the Village Board for their help in making sure we had enough food and water to keep our firefighters ready and able to answer all the calls received. Also, local businesses and individuals reached out and provided supplies that were of much help to ensure that the community had a well prepared and capable fire department.

Thank You
